How Tumblr counts characters

Postozo allows up to 40,000 characters for a Tumblr post. Tumblr text blocks hold 4,096 characters each, so Postozo splits long text on blank lines into several blocks for you.

Among the 23 networks with a counter here, Tumblr has the 13th shortest of 14 different limits. Reddit and Slack have the same limit of 40,000. Shorter is not worse: it only changes how you write. A long limit means the first lines matter most, because that is what people see before they open the post.

This counter counts each character (Unicode code point), the same way Postozo checks it before saving.
