Why the same post fits on 1 network and not on another

Networks do not only set different limits. They also count in different ways. X counts every link as 23 characters, however long it is. Farcaster counts bytes, so emoji and Hindi letters use more of the limit than English letters. Instagram counts hashtags as text and also stops at 30 hashtags. Telegram allows 4,096 characters in a text message but only 1,024 under a photo or video. Mastodon servers can each set their own limit, so 500 is common but not certain. Each network counter uses that network's own rule, the same rule Postozo checks before it saves a post.

Who uses these tools

Social media managers check a caption before they send it for approval. Agencies check a client's text before it goes into the post editor. Writers check a thread on X or Bluesky part by part. You do not need an account for any of it.

How to use a character counter

1. Write the full post for the network with the most room, like LinkedIn or Facebook.
2. Paste it into the all-network counter and look for red rows.
3. Shorten it for those networks. Put the main point in the first sentence so it survives the cut.
4. Move hashtags and links into a first comment where the network allows it.

Why these tools are free

They are small parts of what Postozo does inside the app. The post editor checks every network's limits before a post is saved, and the AI assistant can shorten a post to fit. Nothing you type in these tools is sent to us. The counting happens in your browser.
