PostozoHow to connect Instagram to Postozo
Sign in with Facebook (or Instagram), pick your Instagram accounts and start scheduling. This guide shows each screen in Postozo, what Instagram asks for, and how to fix common errors.
What you need before you start
- An Instagram professional account: Business or Creator. Personal accounts cannot be connected. You can switch for free in the Instagram app under Settings, Account type and tools.
- For the Facebook route (the Instagram tile): the Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Page you manage.
- No Facebook Page? Use the Instagram (Instagram login) tile instead. You sign in with Instagram directly. The account still has to be Business or Creator.
Instagram uses a sign-in button (called OAuth). You never share your Facebook (or Instagram) password with Postozo.
Connect Instagram step by step
Step 1. Open Add Channel
Sign in to Postozo. On the Calendar, press Add Channel at the top of the channel list. A window opens with a tile for every network. Find the Instagram tile and press it. Each tile also has a How to connect link that opens this guide.
If the tile says Coming soon on this server, the server you use has not added its Instagram app keys yet. Ask the person who runs your Postozo server. On postozo.com this is done for you.
Step 2. Sign in on Facebook (or Instagram)
Postozo sends you to Facebook (or Instagram) to sign in. This screen belongs to Facebook (or Instagram), so we cannot show it here. What you will see:
- With the Instagram tile, Facebook opens. Continue as your Facebook name.
- Pick the Facebook Pages whose Instagram accounts you want to add. Keep every permission turned on and press Save.
- With the Instagram (Instagram login) tile, Instagram opens instead. Sign in with the Instagram account and press Allow.
Postozo checks that these permissions were given, because posting fails without them:
- Access profile and posts from the Instagram account
- Create posts on the Instagram account
- Show a list of the Pages you manage
You never type your Facebook (or Instagram) password into Postozo. Facebook (or Instagram) sends you back with a sign-in that Postozo stores encrypted.
Step 3. Pick your Instagram accounts
For the Facebook route, Postozo lists every Instagram professional account linked to your Pages, with the Page it is linked to. Tick 1 or more. The Instagram login route adds the 1 account you signed in with, so there is no list.
Instagram accounts that are already connected show a green Connected label and cannot be ticked again. If your plan has a channel limit, the list shows how many you can still add, and stops you from ticking more. Press Add when you are done. Press Cancel to stop without adding anything.
Step 4. Check the new channel
Back on the Calendar, the new channel shows in the channel list on the left, with a small Instagram badge on its picture. A message at the bottom says it is connected. You can now pick it in the post editor.
Step 5. Set your preferences
Press the 3 dots next to the channel to open its menu. From here you can set Preferences (default settings for every new post on this channel, like Post as, Collaborators), edit time slots, move the channel to a customer, reconnect, turn it off or delete it.
Common errors and how to fix them

| "You cancelled the sign-in, or did not allow access" | You pressed Cancel or closed the Instagram screen. Press Try again and choose Allow. |
| "Instagram did not give Postozo every permission it needs" | A permission was turned off on the Instagram screen. The message names it. Press Try again and leave everything turned on. |
| "This sign-in link has expired" | Sign-in links last 1 hour. Start again from Add Channel. |
| "Your plan allows N channels" | You reached the channel limit of your plan. Remove a channel you do not use, or upgrade in Billing. |
How to reconnect
A sign-in can stop working, for example when you change your Instagram password, remove the app on Instagram, or lose access to a Instagram account. Postozo then marks the channel with a warning, pauses its posts, and tells you by notification and email.
- Press the 3 dots next to the channel.
- Press Reconnect channel.
- Sign in on Instagram again with the same account.
- Postozo finds the same Instagram account again on its own. You do not need to pick it again.
Reconnect keeps the channel, its posts, time slots and preferences. If you sign in with a different account, Postozo stops and tells you, so posts never go to the wrong account. If the Instagram account is no longer on that account, you see a message that says so, with a Try again button.
How to disconnect Instagram
Press the 3 dots next to the channel, then Delete. Postozo removes the channel and deletes its stored sign-in right away. Upcoming and draft posts for that channel are removed too. Posts that are already live stay on Instagram. You need the admin or owner role in your workspace to delete a channel.
To also remove Postozo from your Instagram account, open the connected apps settings on Instagram and remove it there. See Instagram help: add a Facebook Page to your account.
Want to pause instead? Choose Disable Channel in the same menu. Its posts wait until you turn it back on.
What you can post on Instagram
Needs at least 1 photo or video. Max 2200 characters, max 30 hashtags. Up to 10 items in a carousel. Photos must be JPEG with a ratio between 4:5 and 1.91:1. Follow-up comments are posted as comments (text only).
For Business or Creator accounts that sign in with Instagram. No Facebook Page needed. Needs at least 1 photo or video. Max 2200 characters, max 30 hashtags. Up to 10 items in a carousel. Photos must be JPEG with a ratio between 4:5 and 1.91:1. Follow-up comments are posted as comments (text only).

Questions
Which Instagram tile should I use?
Use Instagram if the account is linked to a Facebook Page. Use Instagram (Instagram login) if it is not. Both publish posts, carousels, Reels and Stories.
Is a Creator account enough?
Yes. Business and Creator accounts both work. Only personal accounts cannot be connected.
Can I add several Instagram accounts?
Yes. With the Facebook route you can tick several accounts at once. With Instagram login, connect each account on its own.
Does connecting Instagram cost extra?
No. There is no extra charge per network. Each connected Instagram account counts as 1 channel toward the channel limit of your plan.
What if the Instagram tile says Coming soon on this server?
The server you use has no Instagram app keys yet. The server admin adds them in Admin, Networks.
